For Perverse Temporalities Karin Keisu and Josse Thuresson produced a song for each other, and then, with neither hearing the song before, tried to lip sync it. The film addresses notions of queer temporality that question capitalistic ideas of efficiency and the heteronormative timeline. These notions are put in relation to a backdrop of queer ballroom contests and in particular the role of lip sync as it has evolved into mainstream entertainment.
Karin Keisu (b. 1995, Tornedalen) and Josse Thuresson (b. 1992, Stockholm) are since 2018 a collaborative duo with a practice that favours instances of learning, temporal dissolution and poetic interruption. They work artistically and curatorially addressing systems of power and socio-political environments, focusing on the politics of language, the queer ballroom and drag scene and critical temporality studies. Educated at Oslo National Academy of the Arts and at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design.
